LEWISTON – Donald Richard Wilson, 89, passed away Jan. 1, 2026 at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. Donald was born in Dover, N.H., Jan. 27, 1936 the second child of Edward Earl Wilson and Emily (Lord Gray) Wilson. Donald graduated from Dover High School in 1954 and married Nancy Elizabeth Horr on Feb. 26, 1958. This February would have been their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary.

Don and his family moved to Lewiston in 1962 where he worked for W.T. Grants as a stockroom supervisor until Grants closed when he went to work for Snows until retiring at the age of 62. After retiring, Don worked part time driving a wheelchair van for United until the age of 80 when he fully retired.

Don was predeceased by his parents; and three younger siblings, Beverly Downs, David Wilson and Philip Wilson.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Allan Bruce (Kimberly) Wilson of New Hartford, N.Y. and Scott Dennis (Janet) Wilson of Rangeley; five grandchildren, Amy (Travis) Burleigh of Lewiston, Andrea (William) Miskimen of Dover, N.H., Micah (Amanda) Wilson of Lewiston, Ashley (Shaun) McKinley of Mentor, Ohio and Captain Joshua (Janice) Wilson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail and Zachary Burleigh, Gideon and Eliana Miskimen, Mackenzie Wilson, and Eleanor and Gregory Wilson. Don is also survived by his older brother, Edward Earl Wilson Jr. of Dover, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was a long-term member of South Lewiston Baptist Church where he filled many roles. His passion was working with children and youth and in his later years he was known as the candy man. Don loved the ocean, lighthouses and spent many summers at Wells Beach.
