One of the two buildings comprising the DeWitt housing project is seen under construction Thursday morning on Pine Street in Lewiston. The project, which includes another building to the left, is on track to be completed by year's end. Crews razed two buildings in 2025 to make way for the housing development, including a former Sun Journal building at 40 Pine St. that was once the site of the DeWitt Hotel. The project will include 15,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. Lewiston Housing is in talks with Webb’s Market owner and City Councilor Susan Longchamps to use some of the space.
