ANSWER: I’m printing this again because I left off a couple of items and wanted readers to have the full list! These items can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The door for donations is located on the left side of the building near the back by the ramp.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently there was someone who asked where she could give greeting cards. I will take new or “used” cards of any type for Operation Christmas Child. We put them in gift boxes for children. Please reach out to me at https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=jennifer%20l%20seavey. – Jennifer, Bowdoin

ANSWER: Operation Christmas Child is an outreach that mails gift boxes with small toys, personal items, and school supplies to children around the world. You can let Jenniefer know if you have cards to give for her and her helpers to use and if you want to find out more about this organization, including packing and mailing boxes yourself, go to https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/#

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m doing a big new year cleanout at my house and want to donate all the items to just one organization. You have mentioned a place in Auburn before that benefits the hospice or a hospital. Is that place still around? –No name, Litchfield

ANSWER: You are thinking of Andwell Hospice Thrift Store at 245 Center St., Suite 2, Auburn (207-312-5092). The store is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may want to go there first and look around to see what items they sell and talk to a volunteer to discuss if this is a good fit for the goods you want to donate.

This nonprofit does a very good job with curating and displaying the donations they receive and I’m always impressed when I visit. Items that are accepted include antiques and collectibles, area rugs, books, adult clothing and accessories, craft supplies (new/gently used), games and puzzles, housewares, jewelry, paintings, pictures and frames, luggage, shoes and boots, small furniture (bookcases, nightstands, coffee and end tables, bureaus, dressers and chairs).

Donations are accepted Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
