LEWISTON — City Administrator Bryan Kaenrath and police Chief Carly Conley will present their ideas on public safety Thursday as part of the ongoing Great Falls Forum.

The free event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 15 at Callahan Hall in the Lewiston Public Library.

Conley, a 25-year veteran of the police force, was named the Police Department’s chief in May. Since taking the position, she has made a variety of public appearances, including at a public “listening session” in December.

Kaenrath, hired as city administrator in early 2025, has put an emphasis on community safety since his arrival. He has been the center of several public forums aimed at discussing safety and naming a new police chief.

Kaenrath is a former Maine legislator and has served as city administrator in Waterville and Saco.

When he came to Lewiston, he identified public safety as the city’s most urgent and consistently voiced concern. He views public safety “not as an isolated issue, but as the foundation for business investment, community pride, and quality of life.”

Conley, too, has vowed to focus on safety through visibility, professionalism and partnership.

“She has underscored her commitment to building trust,” according to the forum website, “through open communication, equitable service, and strong collaboration with residents and community organizations across Lewiston.”

Admission is free to all Great Falls Forum events. The Zoom link will be posted to the library website and Facebook page prior to the event. More information can be found at the library’s website at LPLonline.org or by calling 513-3135.
