I cannot believe how the mayor of Lewiston has taken the resounding defeat of the casino proposal. The people voted “no,” the same as the first time it was presented to the voters.

Anybody can see that it just doesn’t fit in Lewiston.

As for the negative media about Lewiston-Auburn, I think there have been good stories about how L-A has overcome the loss of the shoe industry and the mills. It is a slow process but it is happening.

I guess Stavros Mendros, manager of Great Falls Recreation and Redevelopment, is going to start campaigning again for a casino in Lewiston. What part of “no” does he not understand?
