DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank everyone for being there for my brother, Daniel Davis. Sending all those cards carried him through. Because of you, he wasn’t alone with his thoughts and you all carried him through until the end. He loved you all and I send heartfelt thanks for reaching out to him. The world is a better place because of all of you — Daniel’s sister, Dora, no town
ANSWER: I’m sending condolences to you, my dear, and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know that Sun Spotters do make a difference. Whenever one of us reaches out to someone in need, through this column, and through personal letters and cards, we are answering the call to share love and to lighten someone else’s life. Let’s continue what has become part of the Sun Spots mission, to spread kindness, support one another, share our collective knowledge, and wisdom, offer free items to one another, donate items to local nonprofits, and so much more.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the person from Lewiston who was asking about “The Steve Wilkos Show,” the show is on at the same time but FOX 23 is now on Channel 9. Channel 4 has been replaced by ROAR. Turn to Channel 9 and you will find your program! — Arthur, Farmington
ANSWER: Arthur is referring to the reader who wrote Jan. 6, asking about one of her favorite shows. I have to confess that I don’t use cable or DISH TV so it’s very helpful when a Sun Spotter steps in to assist with these types of questions. What would I do without you all?
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’d like to thank the two young women who shoveled my driveway and walkway this past Sunday morning. I am in my 80s and live alone. I was still in my robe and eating breakfast when I saw them through the window. I called to them and asked them to come to the door when they were finished so I could give them some cash but they told me they didn’t want me to do that.
Later on, I saw them shoveling out another driveway on our street. They seemed to be having fun and the cleared driveway and hearing them talking and laughing together made my day. — No name, Lisbon Falls
ANSWER: This is what life is all about, little moments like this one. Reading this letter made my day too. My hope is that everyone will find at least one person they can help this week. Our winters are long and cold. Let’s share some sunshine.
