There has been a huge lack of coverage of high school skiing this season, particularly Nordic.
And there have been some missed opportunities for some good stories: The Roy Varney Hornet Classic, held for the first time at the Maine Outdoor Wellness Center in Turner, the place that Roy dreamed of having. And, a Leavitt skier won the race. Clara White, a senior from Orono, has been dominating and crushing it this season. Unlike other sports, Nordic coaches work together at races to find the best wax for all of our skiers.
There have been numerous (every week) stories about basketball. There have even still been stories about high school football. But where is the coverage about Nordic skiing? There have been zero stories about Nordic. Luckily we have www.mainehighschoolskiing.com because newspaper coverage of high school Nordic skiing has melted away.
