All our political leaders and candidates are angry, but none are offering any solutions. It’s embarrassing and discouraging to think that the future of our country is in the hands of a bunch of partisan hacks who gain their votes by spewing vitriolic rhetoric and sowing division at every possible opportunity, all for political gain. Our country is more divided than I’ve ever seen, and these buffoons are only fanning the flames.
Under the last administration, somewhere in the order of 8 million migrants entered our country. That is undeniably a lot of people to productively absorb into our society. There is an element of fraud, violence and crime attached to the immigration crisis. These are facts, and legitimate concerns. Obviously, there are also a significant number of immigrants who want to become productive citizens too.
It is time to hold our leaders accountable. We need for them to stop with their childish rhetoric and become engaged in finding a workable solution. I have yet to hear a single solution offered by anyone.
Here’s a thought: Why hasn’t anyone floated the idea of a sponsorship program yet? Where a charitable citizen could assume legal responsibility for an immigrant, or immigrant family, and facilitate their path toward becoming productive citizens. Sure, there are a lot of details that need to be worked out, but it seems like a lot of people would be willing to do this.
Just food for thought.
