On Sunday, the New England Patriots will be facing the Seattle Seahawks in Superbowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.

The Pats have won the Super Bowl six times. Perhaps the most dramatic win was their first, on Feb. 3, 2002 in the Louisiana Superdome. The New England Patriots were the underdogs, but won the game in dramatic fashion, 20-17.

Quarterback Drew Bledsoe was sidelined with injuries, and a young Tom Brady played in his first Super Bowl.

Brady played well, but the real star of the game was kicker Adam Vinatieri. Not only did he tie the game with a 48-yard field goal, he kicked another with the same yardage as the clock ran out, propelling the Pats to an astonishing win.

Portland Press Herald staff photographer Gregory Rec was at the game, and when the victory celebration was held in Portland’s Monument Square in April, Herb Swanson had his camera ready.
