Annette Berube

SCARBOROUGH – Annette Berube, 103, died peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 26, 2026, in Scarborough, Maine. She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Amedee and Olivine (Richard) Kirouac.

Annette grew up on a dairy farm in Lewiston and attended the Scribner Schoolhouse. She graduated at the top of her class from Lewiston High School in 1940 and worked as a bookkeeper for the Vincent Bottling Company during World War II and later for F.X. Marcotte Furniture.

On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Lionel B. Berube. Together they raised five children. Lionel predeceased her in 2005 after 59 years of marriage.

A lifelong member of Holy Family Parish, Annette was active in parish life, Pastoral Care Ministry, and Catholic education. She also served as past treasurer of La Survivance Française, was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. She enjoyed bowling, wintering in Florida, writing her memoirs, playing the piano, and hosting family and friends.

Annette is survived by her children Denise Martel of Rye, NH, Anne Marie Mailhot (Reginald) of Wells, Maine, Janice Latulippe (David) of Freeport, Maine, Robert Berube (Carolyn Rapier) of Union City, Calif., and Michael Berube (Michele Tucci) of Washington, DC; 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, three sisters, and a son-in-law.

Visitation will be held at The Fortin and Pinette Group Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston Maine 04240 on Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held on the same day at Holy Family Church at 11 a.m. Committal prayers will be held following the Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery Large Chapel at 12:30 p.m.
