I’ve followed the angst-laden “Occupy” movement with some fascination. It appears they’ve now taken over a public park for their own private use with the blessing of the city of Portland.

I wonder if city officials would be so conciliatory or forbearing if it were tea party members, or some other movement not so in sync with the views of Portland’s ruling class, occupying the park.

I would also suggest that if even one of the willfully voluntary homeless protesters enters a shelter meant for the unwillingly homeless on a cold, snowy night, then the movement loses whatever claim to moral validity it might have.

Furthermore, does it surprise anyone that the movement has no issue with Maine’s “top 1 percent”? We wouldn’t want to upset mommy and daddy by lumping them in with the nefarious other “top 1 percent” and risk having our allowance cut off.
