Thomas S. Howe
BETHEL – Thomas S. Howe, passed away Monday Jan. 26. 2026, in the comfort of his home with his family after a lengthy battle to cancer. He was born on March 14, 1956 in Portland. He is the son of Joan Ward Howe and Clarence W. Howe. He graduated in 1975 at Telstar High School. He married Suzanne Kimball Howe in 1983.
In his early years Tom was a cub scout and boy scout and then became a leader to both for his son’s troop in Bethel. During high school, Tom worked on the Bethel Ambulance, and at Greenleaf Funeral Home. He studied Graphic Design at CMVTI.
He was a member of Mt. Abram Ski Patrol and worked as a bartender at Mt. Abram and The Bethel Inn Country Club. He later became employed at Sunday River Ski Patrol. Tom met his wife Suzanne who was also employed there during the winter of 1979, 80.
He started working for Boise Cascade at the Rumford Paper Mill in 1980 and retired in 2018. He began his career working on the paper machines then later moved to the quality control lab.
Tom had a passion for growing vegetables in his garden. He took yearly camping trips, and yearly trips to Reid State Park with his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing the woods of Maine and New Hampshire with his father and friends. He and his wife traveled to many tropical destinations.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne P. Howe of 42 years; a daughter, Britney M. Howe, and her three children; a son, Jason S. Howe, his partner Sam, and their two children.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Sat., Feb. 28, 2026, at the Pleasant Valley Bible Church, 407 Flat Rd, West Bethel, ME. 04286.
