Caroline Nason Bither

WILMINGTON, Del. – Caroline Nason Bither, 90, died Feb. 2, 2026, in Wilmington, Del. She was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Lewiston, Maine and raised in Auburn where the family heating and plumbing business was located. She was the daughter of Harry E. Nason Sr. and Harriet Files Nason, educated in Auburn, and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1958

In 1958 she married Peter G. Bither in Auburn. He predeceased her in 1993. Caroline was a 65-year resident of Delaware, and for over 30 years a summer resident of Casco at the Pleasant Lake camp originally built by her father. After a brief career in education, she became a dedicated housewife, mother, and volunteer.

As a mother, she was active in the PTA, homeroom mother, music booster volunteer, and scout den mother. She was an American Association of University Women member, and served on the Delaware Foster Care Review Board. She belonged to Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Her favorite activities included working the annual AAUW book fair at Concord Mall, playing bridge with Hercules Country Club and Talleybrook civic association members, and spending time with her and friends’ beloved Corgis on Pleasant Lake.

She is survived by her sons Christopher N. Bither of Poland, Maine and Daniel P. Bither of Wilmington, Del.; her special niece, Caroline N. Mitchell, nephews Josh and Adam Nason; sister-in-law, Jude Nason; and several more nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her eldest son, Thomas W. Bither; brothers Linfest “Buddy” Nason, Harry E. Nason Jr., Donald W. Nason, and Peter Nason, sisters-in-law Nancy Grape, Francis Nason, and Donna Shea.

A viewing will take place at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Del. on Friday Feb. 13, at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Burial will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn, Maine at a later date.
