DEAR SUN SPOTS: Girl Scouts of River Valley is hosting an informational session at High Street Congregational Church, 106 Pleasant St. in Auburn on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 6-7 p.m. to introduce families to what Girl Scouts can offer.
We will have a traditional meeting with an opening, discuss what activities we will be working on, learn by doing, and end the meeting with a traditional closing.
Parents and guardians will have an opportunity to ask questions about the program, volunteering, and what the program can do for all involved.

ANSWER: Girls Scouts is about so much more than selling cookies! And is a great experience for girls and young women. Building confidence, making friends, learning skills, and being encouraged should always be supported. I hope you have a big turnout. DEAR SUN SPOTS: Clover Health Care at 440 Minot Ave. in Auburn is hosting “Right Sizing – Creating Space for What Matters” on Feb. 12 from 3-4 p.m.
Presented by Tony Poulin, owner of Meservier & Associates of Auburn, this program will speak to the challenges of changing residences and how to right-size a lifetime of belongings to fit a new home and define your lifestyle your way.

ANSWER: This is a helpful topic. I like the term “right-size.” It sounds more positive than “downsize,” which seems diminishing.
My older friends seem to be embracing right-sizing. They speak of keeping their independence and having more time to enjoy their lives rather than having the responsibility of caring for homes and things they no longer want or need. Please share your thoughts.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”), 163 Main St., will hold its annual Sweets for Your Sweetie on Saturday, Feb.14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Delicious goodies in festive Valentine packaging will be on sale. A few new events have been added this year. Photographer Kylie Robin will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon for photos of people and their beloved pets in a Valentine setting.
Brunch will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu choices are breakfast casserole, quiche, sausage rolls, fruit, cinnamon rolls and coffee or tea.
A room of attic treasures will also be available, which will include a selection of puzzles and books for chilly winter days.
