HARTFORD, Conn. — Alex Oriakhi had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 4 Connecticut to its 14th consecutive win, 80-60 over Maine on Thursday night.

Jeremy Lamb also scored 16 points and freshman DeAndre Daniels added 15 for UConn (3-0). Andre Drummond and Tyler Olander both added double-doubles. Drummond had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

UConn extended the longest winning streak in Division I while winning its 36th consecutive non-conference game.

Justin Edwards had 20 points for the Black Bears (1-1).

Maine kept it close through the first half, before UConn went on a 23-2 run to open the second. The Huskies held the Black Bears without a field goal for the first 10 1/2 minutes after intermission.

CMCC 80, NHTI 72

AUBURN — Mike Green poured in 20 points to lead Central Maine Community College to its first Yankee Conference win of the year, 80-71 over NHTI on Thursday.

Alonzo James added 18 points for the Mustangs, while Nick Hinkley chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Besfort Syla scored a game-high 24 points for NHTI.

Women’s basketball

NHTI 56, CMCC 40

AUBURN — NHTI took control of the paint in the second half and pulled away for a 56-40 victory over Central Maine Community College on Thursday.

Sara Romano poured in a game-high 17 points and Kelley Collins and Jess Hardiman added 13 points apiece for NHTI.

Karlee Biskup led the Mustangs with 15 points, while Danielle McCusker contributed 14 points. With the loss, the Mustangs dropped to 3-2.
