POLAND — One person died Tuesday afternoon of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle wreck on Plains Road.
The 3:40 p.m. crash forced a closure of Plains Road between Cobb and Bailey Hill roads as rescue crews treated patients at the scene and an investigation got underway.
In addition to the fatality, two other victims were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with injuries. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Early reports were that the two vehicles collided head-on in the area of Bailey Hill Road.
Further details were scant about the collision later Tuesday. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the wreck, which involved a reconstruction of the crash site.
None of the victims were identified Tuesday night.
Poland fire and rescue crews responded to the crash, using extrication tools to reach the victims. One of the victims was reported to be dead at the scene soon after.
An Auburn rescue crew also responded.
