Sen. Susan Collins must think we Mainers are as gullible as she is. Remember, Collins assured us that Brett Kavanaugh would not vote to overturn Roe v. Wade (he did), that RFK Jr. would not seek to restrict access to vaccines (he did) and that Donald Trump previously learned his lesson (he didn’t).
Now, she expects us to believe that, without providing any supporting evidence, the Department of Homeland Security was ending its “enhanced enforcement” activities in Maine, all because she asked Secretary Kristi Noem nicely. Where’s the proof? How many extra agents were dispatched to Maine? How many have been withdrawn or when will that occur? How many arrests have occurred during this surge and who was arrested? How many of the “worst of the worst” have been rounded up?
There’s an old expression: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” We can’t let Susan Collins and Kristi Noem fool us again.
