The New Jersey Institute of Technology erased an early deficit and rolled to a 63-42 win over the University of Maine in an America East women’s basketball game on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
The Highlanders (16-10, 7-6 AE) trailed 12-9 after the first quarter before outscoring the Black Bears (14-12, 9-4) 18-10 in the second quarter and 21-11 in the third to pull away for the win. Olivia Kulyk had 19 points and nine rebounds for NJIT, while Ava Locklear added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
For Maine, which had its four-game winning streak snapped, Adriana Smith was the lone player in double figures with 24 points. She also had 15 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season.
