Heavy snowfall covered much of Maine on Friday night, with an average of 4-6 inches falling across Cumberland County.
Jerry Combs, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, said Saturday that more snow is expected on Monday, as a track of low pressure takes a closer approach to New England, increasing the snowfall amounts predicted along the coast.
“It’s not set in stone yet, but the forecast for snowfall will be trending higher along the coast,” Combs said.
The latest forecast calls for 6-8 inches of snowfall in the Casco Bay area, with the storm starting Monday morning and winding down that night.
Strong winds could lead to lower visibility, hazards and coastal flooding, Combs said.
“We’ll be contemplating whether or not we’ll be putting out winter storm watches.”
No snow is expected for Sunday.
