Three people were injured Monday morning after an SUV driven by a Cumberland man on Route 26 in Poland appears to have crossed the double centerline and collided head-on with a car driven by a Raymond woman, authorities say.

Androscoggin County deputies responded to the crash about 7:50 a.m. in the 1300 block of Maine Street, according to a post by Chief Deputy William Gagne on the department’s Facebook page.

The crash remains under investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Graeme Kaplan, 18, of Cumberland Center, was operating a 2025 Dodge Durango south on Maine Street when his vehicle crossed the double yellow centerlines and collided head-on with a 2016 Subaru Outback operated north by Rebecca Woodbury, 47, of Raymond, Gagne wrote.

Kaplan, Woodbury, and a 16-year-old passenger in Kaplan’s vehicle received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Gagne wrote.

The major thoroughfare through Poland was closed for just over one hour while emergency personnel investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

Poland Fire-Rescue, Mechanic Falls Police Department and Oxford Fire-Rescue assisted deputies at the scene.
