DEAR SUN SPOTS: For many years Sun Spots helped me collect tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Now as a volunteer at Andwell Hospice Thrift Store, 245 Center St., in Auburn, I hope you will let readers know about the huge selection of quality, affordable clothing for both women and men (sizes range from very small to very large).
Store hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4p.m., Thursday until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Mary Ann, Auburn
ANSWER: First, I want to thank you for all you do for our community. Folks like you, who volunteers, are what keeps things going!
And yes, I’m always happy to promote and make readers aware of all the nonprofits we have in the area.
I recently wrote about Andwell Hospice Thrift Store. This is an awesome place to shop and to donate to. For more information, go to https://andwell.org/.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have two inkjet printers to give away. One was used to print three pages and then the printer died: HP#67, black, and tricolor.
The other printer is an HP Deskjet 2855e, which is also free to someone who wants to try and fix it. HP tried three times. It is still under warranty, but it would only print one page then quit. It is supposed to be wired or wireless.
Anyone interested in either or both printers can call me at 241-0124. Please leave a message. — Patricia, no town
ANSWER: This sounds so frustrating! But perhaps someone in Sun Spots Land can either help you or take them away for you. Please update us, and if you need more help, let me know.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Have you had any updates on the older man with the diabetic cat? I know he had some help right away, but there have been no updates .— No name, no town
ANSWER: Regarding the Feb. 6 column about Henry and his kitty, Henry was able to start a GoFundMe and raised close to $1,000 to cover the cost of medication. He is also making some sweet beaded key chains and sells them online to help with expenses.
He reports that he took his kitty to the vet last Saturday and the medication and special food he has given the cat so far is working. Kitty is moving closer to a healthy weight and is feeling much better. Henry just needs to be able to continue to afford meds and the special recommended food.
We get so attached to our furry friends and want to do everything we can for them but when you’re on an already tight budget, these unexpected expenses are challenging to deal with. I emailed Henry and let him know we had a concerned reader inquiring and he was grateful for the kind thoughts and willing to share this update.
