Mary Ann Vallee

AUBURN – Mary Ann Vallee, 90, of Auburn, passed away with her loving family by her side March 11, 2026, at Bolster Heights.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 20, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles Asselin and Blanche (Deschene) Asselin. She grew up in Auburn, attending Auburn schools and graduating from Edward Little High School in 1954.

She met her husband Bertrand Vallee in 1954, the day after his discharge from the U.S. Navy. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Sept. 3, 1955 and they started a family. They were married for 58 years.

For almost 40 years, Mary Ann worked as a cook at Head Start of Androscoggin County, and thoroughly loved her time spent there with her coworkers and the children. She especially cherished time with her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Spending many hours viewing their sports and activities.

She was a devoted wife, mother, memere and great-memere. Mary Ann had a loving twin sister, Mary Jane, whom she treasured her time with. She enjoyed many trips with her husband’s cousins and friends over the years. She also appreciated neighborly walks with her good friend, Sandy. Some of her other hobbies included cooking, dancing, and listening to music. Mary Ann and Bertrand could be found relaxing on the porch on most nights during the summer months. She considered her New Auburn neighbors as family.

Her last two years were spent at Bolster Heights Residential Care in New Auburn. She was known for her positive attitude, her beautiful smile, and she was often referred to as having a beautiful soul.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bertrand Vallee; son, James Vallee; brothers Normand “Jackie” Asselin and Richard Asselin, brother-in-law, Normand Guerette, and Pamela Bartlett.

She is survived by her twin sister, Mary Jane Guerette of Auburn, her brother, Robert Asselin of Auburn, Neal and Tina Beuniskas, and Lisa and Bill Watson; children, Marc Vallee of Lewiston, Michael Vallee of Auburn, Joline Vallee and longtime friend and housemate Therese Rouleau of Gray, Linda Brewer and her partner John Rothwell of Lisbon, Steve Vallee and wife Joline Vallee of Wales; her grandchildren, Brian Leighton and wife Molly Leighton of Marlborough, Mass., Jacob Brewer and wife Elizabeth Brewer of Charlotte, N.C., Alyssa Vallee and fiance Kyle Corson of Auburn, Courtney Vallee of New Gloucester, Hannah Marie of Bath, Brett Vallee and partner Noelle Violette of Lisbon, and Trevor Vallee and partner Mikayla Brown of Auburn; along with nieces, nephews; great-grandchildren; and many friends.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Brittany Mclaughlin and her wonderful staff at Bolster Heights Residential Care, along with Kim and the caring staff at Andwell Health Partners.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Mary Ann at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn, ME 04210, on March 18, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a Liturgy of the Word to follow at 11:30 a.m.
