Housing is one of the biggest challenges facing Maine today, and it will be one of the most important issues our next governor must address. That’s why I am supporting Hannah Pingree for governor.

Over the course of this campaign, Hannah has traveled across Maine listening to residents, housing providers and community leaders about what they are experiencing. She understands that housing challenges look different in different communities, but the need is universal. She is also the only candidate with a comprehensive plan to tackle this issue.

As someone who has worked in affordable housing in Maine for the past 40 years, I have seen many policy debates come and go. I can say sincerely that Hannah Pingree is one of the most thoughtful and effective housing policy leaders I have encountered.

The need today is enormous. Tens of thousands of Mainers need help. Some are trying to find an affordable apartment. Others hope to buy their first home. Many need help making repairs so they can remain safely in their homes as they grow older. Others are struggling to keep up with rising rents in mobile home parks. Too many of our neighbors are also working to find stable shelter or a path out of homelessness.

These challenges are real, and they require a governor who is committed to addressing them with urgency and care. Hannah Pingree has the knowledge and determination to move Maine forward. I hope others will join me in supporting her for governor.
