Western Kennebec County Indivisible is a local group aligned with a nationwide grassroots progressive movement in the U.S., founded in 2016. The purpose of this movement is to resist the extremist agenda now so prevalent in our U.S. government, using local advocacy, community building and political action. Our focus is defending our communities, democracy, the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution.
We have endorsed Graham Platner for Maine’s U.S. senator in the Democratic primary. Why have we endorsed Platner? Well, it certainly was a hard decision, given initial controversies with Graham, and the fact that Janet Mills, our current governor, is also running against Sen. Susan Collins.
The truth is, many of us think he has a better chance of winning in Maine’s 2nd District. He is a fighter, and in the current Democratic Party we need fighters. He stands strong for the working class. Take a look at his platform. He strongly supports economic justice, veterans, health care for all and civil rights.
We need to get our democracy back. Things have gone way too far with this unlawful administration.
