Every March, the Portland Museum of Art welcomes in spring with the Art in Bloom exhibit. Works of art in the museum’s collection will be paired with stunning floral displays created by 20 designers, including Stacy Leafsong from Leafsong Family Farm and Tess Dunlap from Floralia Design Studio. Along with the exhibit, Art in Bloom features events, including a botanical block printing workshop with artist and printmaker Katherine Watson and the Art in Bloom Jazz brunch featuring the Chris Oberholzer Band, signature drinks and sweet treats, both on Sunday.

‘Observer’

“Observer,” a documentary directed by Maine-based filmmaker Ian Cheney, was filmed in the U.S., Greenland, Italy, Senegal, Chile and Korea. “Observer” brings scientists, artists and a hunter to secret locations, then asks them to describe what they see. The result is a unique exploration of how humans perceive the environments they’re in, and how beauty and meaning can be found in unexpected places.

‘Murder at the Marquee’

6 p.m. doors, 7 p.m. show. Friday. Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, $55 in advance, $60 at the door. francocenter.org.

For a fun and intriguing night out, grab a ticket for “Murder at the Marquee.” Hollywood glamour infused with suspense and surprises is presented by theater group Mystery for Hire. Come dressed as if you’re attending the Oscars, as you’ll be assigned the identity of a celebrity upon arrival, and may find yourself part of the show. Help solve a mystery as you mingle with characters, pose questions and get swept up in the drama. Tix include hearty appetizers, and the cash bar opens at 6 p.m.

‘Knowing and Unknowing’

Artist collective Brazen Bandits’ exhibit “Knowing and Unknowing” features several local trans artists. You can see their work through April 18 at Portland Public Library. On Friday from 5-7 p.m. there’s a special event honoring Trans Day of Visibility. Live music from Queer Beach, dancing, art-making and light refreshments are all part of the celebration.

Canadian jazz singer Diana Krall has had eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her silky contralto vocals have earned her a pair of Grammy Awards and and 10 Juno Awards (Canada’s Grammy equivalent). In 2020, Krall released her 15th album, “This Dream of You.” The title track is a Bob Dylan song, and others on the album include iconic jazz standards like “Don’t Smoke in Bed,” “Singing in the Rain” and “Autumn in New York.”
