Luke Cavallin recorded his third shutout of the season and the Maine Mariners remained red hot with a 4-0 win over the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon in Portland.
Cavallin made 31 saves to earn the 10th shutout of his ECHL career.
The Mariners improve to 36-16-6-2 and have won 15 of their last 17 games. Their magic number to clinch a playoff spot is down to seven.
Sebastian Vidmar scored his seventh goal of the season in the first period to give Maine the lead. Max Andreev scored a power-play goal 31 seconds into the second period. Brooklyn Kalmikov and Xander Lamppa scored empty-net goals in the third.
Maine has a pair of home games against the Greensboro Gargoyles next weekend.
