Mary Stuart Farnum Rowe
SOUTH PARIS – Mary Stuart Farnum Rowe, 89, passed away at the Maine Veterans Home March 21, 2026, after several years of living with a dementia diagnosis.
Born May 25, 1936, in Woodstock, Maine to Frances Berry and Homer Farnum, she attended local Woodstock schools and graduated salutatorian of her class in 1954. She attended the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing and May 5, 1955, married the love of her life, Leon S. (Bud) Hadley, Jr. Together they raised five children. In 2005 she married Stanley Rowe.
As a child, Mary Stuart learned to play the piano and loved the time she spent around and on Lake Christopher in Woodstock. After marriage to “Bud”, she moved to West Paris village where they raised the family and she later on worked at Ledgeview Memorial Home for 25 years. She enjoyed summers at the family camp on Round Pond in Greenwood, loved music, dancing, Saturday night gatherings with friends and travelling. She would say she was truly blessed and grateful for her family and many, many lifelong friends that she held dear.
Mary Stuart is survived by her sister, Ramona Grover (Richard) of Mason Township; children, Shirley Boyce (Jim) Norway, Jeffrey Hadley (Sharon) Waterford, Trudy Harlow (Kerry) Woodstock, Bethany Kozak (Ken) Norway and L. Scott Hadley (Rikki) Norway; grandchildren, Veronica Poland (Shane), Meredith Humphrey (Jason), Jeffrey Hadley, Jr. (Sherri), Kimberly Luxton (Wade), Ross Baker, Charlee Noble (Brandon Baer), Cody Hadley (Monica), Dylan Hadley and Reece Morin (Yin); great grandchildren, Sullivan Poland (Autumn Harrison), Molly Baldwin (Seth), Sawyer Poland, Olivia Humphrey, Gabrielle White (Joshua), Elijah Hadley, Cameron Luxton, Colby Luxton, Scarlet Hadley, Violet Hadley and Lincoln Hadley; great-great grandchildren, Eleanor Poland and Maddox Westleigh.
She is also survived by her nieces, Katrina Lowe, Jane Ryerson (Craig), nephew, Alan Lowe (Christina); her lifelong best friend, Sybil Whitman Doughty; and her beloved “Kitty” cat.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and Homer Farnum; husbands, Leon S. (Bud) Hadley, Jr. and Stanley Rowe, brother-in-law, Robert Lowe; and nephew, James Robert Lowe.
At the request of the family, there will be no services.
