Aly and AJ Michalka are siblings who front indie folk rock act Aly and AJ. Their notable songs include “Rush,” “Potential Breakup Song” and “Chemicals React.” The sisters’ latest release is “Silver Deliverer,” home to the empowering, harmony-rich track “What It Feels Like.” Both have extensive acting credits, dating back to their teen years on the Disney Channel. AJ has also been cast in the upcoming fourth season of the hit HBO series “The White Lotus.”

‘Sentimental Journey: The Doris Day Story’

“Sentimental Journey: The Doris Day Story” makes its world premiere in Falmouth. The multimedia production stars Erin Leddy as the legendary entertainer. You’ll hear 14 of Day’s most popular hits performed with full orchestra sound, including “Sentimental Journey,” “Que Sera Sera,” “Secret Love” and “Lover Come Back.” With stories, songs and visuals, the show traces Day’s storied 50-year career as a singer and Hollywood star.

‘Grand Horizons’

Catch the Tony-nominated comedy “Grand Horizons,” written by Bess Wohl. Nancy has been married to Bill for five decades. Now, she wants a divorce. He’s seemingly OK, but the couple’s two adult sons are none too happy, as they suddenly have to reassess what they thought was their parents’ picture-perfect life. Wohl’s cutting candor with family dynamics will make you roar with laughter. “Grand Horizons” is recommended for ages 14 and up.

‘The Wizard of Oz’

Follow the yellow brick road to Johnson Hall for a screening of the 1939 classic film “The Wizard of Oz.” Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, Glinda the Good Witch of the North and the dreaded Wicked Witch of the West will all be waiting to lead you on a grand cinematic adventure from Kansas to Oz and back again.

‘Believe it or Not’

7 p.m. Friday. Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, $10, cash only at the door. francocenter.org.

With host Dan Kane, Thread Theater 2.0 presents a unique experience for attendees. “Believe it or Not” offers audience members the chance to write a short script. A performance follows, complete with feedback. The entire evening will be an unpredictable foray into theatrical shenanigans. If you’d rather just sit back and take it all in, that’s OK too.

Pandemonium Strings

If you like the idea of seeing a show that combines music, acrobats and fun, you’re going to love Canadian group Pandemonium Strings. The Painchaud family of musicians from Quebec, Canada, will dazzle and delight with a comedy-infused musical performance featuring classical, rock, country and pop tunes. You’ll be kept on your toes throughout the entire show as the band takes flight and play while upside down.

David Sedaris

7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. Merrill Auditorium, 20 Myrtle St., Portland, $57-$67. portix.com.

Few people are better at dishing out social satire and humor than David Sedaris. His latest book is “The Land and Its People,” a collection of essays about some of his life experiences, including riding a horse named Tequila in Guatemala and when a train passenger lost their lunch all over him. Sedaris will be signing copies of his books in the lobby before and after his time on stage.
