Seniority means a lot in the Senate. I believe Gov. Janet Mills is running for Senate to be carried out, barely alive, like Dianne Feinstein.
Graham Platner is a younger, more energetic, more articulate candidate who can earn a lot of seniority and potentially serve multiple terms, as well as have incumbency advantages for reelection in years not likely as favorable to Democrats as 2026. Gov. Mills will be on borrowed time every day after she is sworn into the Senate. That isn’t fair to Maine. Mills is being selfish, self-centered and not acting in the interests of Maine voters.
Those of us similar to Mills’ age know better. Gov. Mills should be more responsible, act her age, grow up and pass the torch.
