Mainers planning to vote in the June Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate need to take a hard look at Graham Platner, one of the candidates hoping to face off with Sen. Susan Collins in November.
Do they want their senator from Maine to be someone who:
• attended a private prep school yet did not go on to obtain a college degree.
• posted that police are bastards.
• said that rural Mainers are racist and stupid.
• described himself as a communist.
• made disturbing comments suggesting sexual assault victims should take responsibility for their attacks.
• tried to hide a Nazi symbol he had tattooed on his chest.
Should Graham Platner win the Democratic primary in June to face Sen. Susan Collins in November, her campaign will make mincemeat of him, returning Collins to the Senate and perpetuating the Republican majority there.
Democrats will be wise to stick with Gov. and former Attorney General Janet Mills, the candidate with a long and impeccable record of fighting for the people of Maine.
