DEAR SUN SPOTS: Danville Junction Grange, 15 Grange St. in Auburn, cordially invites the public to its annual Open House on Sunday, April 19, from 1-4 p.m.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, free refreshments and door prizes drawn every hour. In addition, there will be activities for the children, such as rock painting, Hot Wheels racing, and seed planting. A tour of our beautiful historic building will be available.

We sincerely hope that many Sun Spots readers will join us to discover what the Grange is all about in our community and what it could possibly bring to their lives; things such as family, fun and fellowship.

The Grange is one of the oldest fraternities in our nation, and Danville Junction Grange is still well and active after putting down roots in our community many years ago. Everyone is welcome to join us, and we hope to see many old friends as well as new friends-to-be!

Thank you, Ms. Sun Spots, for helping us spread the word about this event. You have been such a true and loyal friend to all of us. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: It’s my pleasure to support and promote the Grange. As a young teen, I became involved with the Grange in the tiny town I grew up in. I was enlisted to help serve at the monthly turkey dinners, bean suppers and other fundraising events. I ended up with several adopted grandparents there! When I moved to Maine in 1982 as a young mom, members of the local Grange were some of the first people who welcomed me with open arms.

I want to add that if you have a Grange hall in your town that is still maintained but not active, the hall is used as a gathering place for fundraisers, dances, and can possibly be rented for a private gathering.
