Like many Mainers, I don’t make voting choice lightly. I watch and see who is willing to do the work, listen to the people and approach problems with some common sense. In my view, Troy Jackson has demonstrated those qualities.
His record serving in the Maine Legislature and as Senate president stands out to me. His untiring efforts for Maine working class people are what voters need, not unachievable promises that only appear when it’s time for a reelection bid.
I totally agree with Jackson’s long, continuing stance on sovereignty for the four tribal nations of Maine. For too long, I have seen neither support for or any concrete effort to acknowledge those communities. For years, Troy has worked tirelessly to support legislation to give the tribes what they deserve.
I also support his position on fair taxation. It’s time to ask the wealthiest in this state to kick in their fair share so that we can bring down property and income taxes for the rest of us.
Maine has always valued independence and practicality over noise and division. We need a governor who is willing to work to represent the whole state, not a political party and not the elites.
I believe Troy Jackson will bring the kind of steady, thoughtful leadership the state needs. For those reasons, I encourage others to take a serious look at him in the upcoming election. Make an informed decision, not a political one.
