Spring Artisan and Craft Fair

You can spend part of your Saturday perusing and purchasing handmade goods, crafts and other treasures from more than 70 makers and vendors. The Spring Artisan and Craft Fair features free admission and parking, along with a concession stand and raffles.
Heavy Nettles

For a night of red-hot bluegrass from a Vermont-based acoustic trio, head to The Hill Arts to see Heavy Nettles. With close harmonies, unbelievable picking and a knack for free flowing improvisation, the band hopscotches from bluegrass, jazz, folk and jam into a sound they refer to as “black hole bluegrass” and “prairie jazz.” You can expect an enthralling night of music from Marc Edwards on guitar, Henry Clark on mandolin and Mowgli Giannitti on double bass.
Laugh Harder, Not Smarter

The Second City improv comedy troupe has been making people laugh since 1959. So it’s a safe bet that their Laugh Harder, Not Smarter show will have you rolling in the aisles. With sketch comedy and songs, the touring company’s interactive performance will let you leave your worries at the door.

Maine Culinary Festival
9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive, $5, free for 12 and under. maineculinaryfest.com.
Foodies, cooks, bakers and anyone who appreciates local food, cheese, chocolate, meat and much more will enjoy the Maine Culinary Festival. Nearly 80 booths will be offering samples and selling products. Participants include Gryffon Ridge Spice Merchants, Newks Hot Sauce, Belle Boulangerie, Nuthatch Nuts, Lickity Split Treats and House of Berries. The festival will also features a pie contest, open to amateur bakers.
Mary Fahl

From her time as lead singer of October Project in the ’90s to her most recent solo album “Can’t Get It Out of My Head,” singer Mary Fahl continues to captivate audiences with an otherworldly contralto voice. Her full band performances feature a tapestry of October Project songs, covers from the ’60s and ’70s and several originals, including “Gravity,” “Exiles (The Wolves on Midwinter)” and “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”
Clothing Swap + Food Drive

Punk Rock Flea Market invites you to an upcyclers paradise on Sunday afternoon. Just bring at least one nonperishable food item and you’re in. You just might find your new favorite piece of clothing, pair of shoes or accessory. You can also raid your own closet and bring in stuff to share (no baby or household items). Punk Rock Flea Market is partnering with Food Not Bombs Portland, which provides free distribution of food and other essential items in the Portland community.
