About six weeks ago, we woke up to find that the president had changed his mind about new wars and had followed his “gut feelings” to plunge us into yet another one, this time against Iran. I am still uncertain as to what exactly he hoped to accomplish, but so far Operation Epic Bad Idea has resulted in (among other things):
- Pleasing Netanyahu and Putin.
- Alienating and befuddling our allies and friends worldwide.
- Throwing our international markets into a tailspin.
- Bottling up shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
- Reducing the availability of fertilizer.
- Increasing international fuel prices and driven up costs of goods.
- Putting our military into harm’s way.
- Costing our nation a fortune.
- Isolating our country even more from the rest of the free world.
- Destroying the lives of countless innocents.
- Causing us to again question our government and its leadership.
I dearly hope and pray that this terrible, unnecessary conflict comes to an abrupt end … just as it started.
