Robert G. Belisle

YORK – Robert G. Belisle passed away on March 13, 2026, at York Hospital after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 25, 1949, to the late Diane (Gastonguay) and George Belisle. He attended and graduated from the Lewiston schools, then attended Hiram College in Ohio.

He is survived by his life partner of 43 years, Steven Bernstein of York Beach; his sister, Doris Belisle-Bonneau and brother-in-law, John Bonneau of Maine; nieces Nicole McCaughey of Massachusetts, Lynne Schroh of California, and Audrey Ziter of Vermont.

After graduating from college, Robert taught high school science, then traveled throughout New England teaching wastewater seminars via the SMVTI. He also worked as a chemical salesman for DuBois Chemicals and was actively involved in real estate development and management.

Robert was a creative, sensitive, and caring individual who was always concerned for the well-being of others. He developed a love of cars as a teenager, and throughout his life, he expressed his passion for architecture and design through thoughtful and creative home renovations. His home in York Beach stands as a testament to his vision and craftsmanship.

His family would like to extend special thanks to his devoted friends, Michael Toner and Steven Sachs of Portsmouth, N.H., who were a source of great support and care until his passing.

Interment will be a private family service at the First Parish Cemetery in York.

A Celebration of Life, hosted by his life partner will be held on May 16, from 1 to 3 p.m., at their home All are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Heart Association or any favorite charity would be welcomed.
