Maine voters cast 378,000 ballots for President Trump in 2024. What’s it costing us? The Iran war, so far, is estimated at $30 billion (Maine’s share would be a few billion), mostly for stuff we blow up.

Trump promised to be president of peace, to end the Russia/Ukraine war, and now he wants to bomb a country back to the Dark Ages. Maine has nearly 4,000 citizens serving in the U.S. military. How would they deal with a potential role in war crimes?

Trump voters cast their ballots for his promise to deport “illegals,” yet aggressive ICE forces have also injured and killed American citizens, plus depleting the labor force. Foreign aid cuts left 400 million worldwide without care, increasing the likely global spread of diseases.

Meanwhile, Maine needs more housing and access to medical care. Trump’s dubious tariffs have already cost $1,700 per family each year. Trump promised to cut energy costs; now we pay more for gas, as he tries to eliminate wind power. He wants to increase oil and mining development, cut regulation on pollution and federal conservation protections, and sell federal lands to private developers. This president has not worked with Congress on these actions, as mandated in the Constitution.

That January day, in 2021, I saw the televised U.S. Capitol attack by our own citizens. Trump then pardoned 1,600 rioters. He’s pardoned many white-collar felons, wealthy allies and donors, and others convicted of fraud and corruption. What’s our tipping point?
