I’m a volunteer for the Graham Platner campaign for U.S. Senate because I believe that Graham has what it takes to bring the Democratic Party back to its working-class roots. He wants to take down the billionaire economy and replace it with one that works for the majority of Americans.
Graham is out there listening to what is important for Mainers and clearly understands the key issues. He will fight for working-class Mainers, including pushing for Medicare for all, affordable housing, lowering energy costs, fair taxation so small business can thrive, climate change mitigation and renewable energy.
I’ve seen Graham speak multiple times and I love his authenticity. He’s taken responsibility for his past and shown how hardship can be transformed into strength. He served his country in Iraq and Afghanistan, which left him depressed and suffering from PTSD. As a result, he posted some horrible things on Reddit, 14 years ago, when he was at his lowest point.
Graham then got the help he needed from the VA in Maine and has turned his life around. He’s taken full accountability and apologized for these posts, which do not reflect the person or views he holds today. A willingness to grow and learn is something we should encourage in Washington and that’s why Graham is exactly the kind of candidate we need in the Senate.
It’s unfortunate that Gov. Janet Mills’ campaign is mudslinging instead of staying focused on the issues — and on beating Sen. Susan Collins.
