An Otisfield man has been charged with terrorizing related to a bomb threat at Otisfield Community School on Wednesday.
The school was put on lockdown as a precaution.
Lucas Johnson, 43, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a charge of terrorizing, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office. A conviction on the charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
As part of Johnson’s bail conditions he is prohibited from going on any Maine School Administrative District 17 property in Oxford County. He is also prohibited from contacting teachers, staff or administrators at the Otisfield Community School, Maj. Dana Thompson said.
After deputies received information on the bomb threat they worked alongside school staff to initiate established safety protocols. Following an investigation, Johnson was identified as the individual responsible for making the threat, Thompson said.
Deputies located Johnson in Portland and arrested him. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris and released on $1,000 bail later Wednesday.
MSAD 17 is made up of the towns of Harrison, Hebron, Norway, Otisfield, Oxford, Paris, Waterford, and West Paris.
