I’m writing in support of Troy Jackson for governor.
I have been a Jackson admirer for several years, due to the fact that he has continued being elected to the Legislature despite being a Democrat from Aroostook County, the mostly red part of our state. I have admired Jackson’s ability to negotiate across party lines and keep humble, despite his success as a legislator. He served as Senate president for three consecutive terms, as well as both the majority leader and the minority leader.
I’ve heard employers in southern Maine say they know they’ll have a good employee when they hire someone from the County. They have a reputation for being hardworking, agreeable, having a positive outlook and being able to get along with others.
Troy Jackson lives up to that reputation. He will represent the concerns of Mainers from the top of the state to the bottom. He cares for the well-being of all of us, and he’ll be there every day ensuring it. I believe we couldn’t do any better.
At the time of the last presidential election, I saw a post on Facebook that said, “A vote is not a Valentine, it’s a chess move.” For me, a vote for Troy Jackson is both.
