I am writing in response to your coverage of the warrant issued for Hancock County Probate Judge William B. Blaisdell IV (“Hancock County probate judge, wanted on arrest warrant, turns himself in,” March 18).

I am one of his victims. He was my court-appointed attorney in a parental termination hearing. He concealed from me that he was under a stayed suspension from the Maine Supreme Judicial Court for “egregious” misconduct. Because of his ineffective assistance, I lost my three sons.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court itself later stated my claim of ineffective assistance is “colorable” and “credible.” Mr. Blaisdell’s warrant is not an isolated incident; it’s just the latest chapter in a pattern of neglect and dishonesty that has destroyed families.

The recent bill to create oversight of probate judges failed, and as a result, he remains on the bench. This must change.
