Is it too much to ask an elected official or a candidate for office that who they say they are today is also who they were yesterday, and will be tomorrow?
Under President Trump, we wake up each morning to his rant of the previous evening. It’s usually more bad news that adds to the strife of the new day, causing more worry on top of what already seems impossible to manage. And he gets away with it.
Where is Congress? We can’t do much to hold some of our representatives accountable but, here in Maine, we can make better choices in the June primary and in November’s general election. More than ever, we must know the character of whom we vote for. Stability and decency demand it.
As our choices for U.S. senator become clearer, the choice becomes more critical. This is a vote that reflects the values of the candidates. We deserve nothing less in these troubling times.
That’s why I’m voting for Janet Mills. Mills knows us and we know her. She checks all the boxes for being strong when we need honesty, integrity, values and compassion. From COVID-19 and the aftermath of the Lewiston shootings, to free education at the technical colleges and standing up to Trump, Mills has never let us down.
I thank Gov. Mills for her guidance through it all.
