DEAR SUN SPOTS: Are you a previous board member or volunteer at the Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn Campus? If yes, we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you all for volunteering your time to support the collection over our 54 years of operation. Here’s to another 54 years! — Anna, no town

ANSWER: I’ll be interested to hear more about what’s happening with the collection throughout the summer. For those folks who are interested in learning more about this unique exhibit and programming, go to https://usm.maine.edu/franco-american-collection/

Did you know that The Franco-American Collection accepts donations of material related to Maine’s Franco-American communities?

If you have material relating to Franco families, individuals, organizations, businesses or institutions such as personal memoirs, family histories, letters, photos, scrapbooks, diaries and other items, from any time period up to the present day, these articles can provide a unique insight into Franco-American culture.

Though your desire to donate is appreciated, and the sentimental and historical value your items hold is understood, due to limitations of space and resources, it is not possible for the collection to accept every offer. Any potential donation will be assessed to ensure that it conforms with the acquisition policy. If unable to accept the offered donation, a suitable home at another institution may be found.

If you are interested in donating materials, please contact the archivist at the email and phone number given above.
