RANGELEY — June Davenport Plummer, 91, of Rangeley, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on, Tuesday, Dec. 20.

She was born in Rangeley, June 30, 1920, a daughter of Walter B. and Eva (Hinkley) Davenport. She received her education in Rangeley schools and after her graduation, continued her education at the University of Maine at Farmington.

June was a teacher by profession and taught in the Rangeley school system for 31 years. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Maine Teacher’s Association, Rangeley Teacher’s Association, Maine State Retired Teacher’s Association and the Retired Teacher’s Association of Franklin County.

On March 5, 1944, she married Elliot L. Plummer of Phillips. He died in April of this year. After spending their first few years in Madrid, where they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Mary Lynne Plummer, they moved to Rangeley in 1951.

June was very family orientated and greeted anyone and everyone with a smile. She loved her church and greatly enjoyed playing golf with her friends. When not on the golf course, she enjoyed crafting, knitting and cooking. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary and her husband, John N. Tilas, of Beverly, Mass.; a grandson, John Rhoades and his wife, Anna, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two great-grandsons, John III and Joshua; a loving and caring sister, Eleanor Guevremont and her husband, Jerome; a sister-in-law, Margaret Davenport, all of Rangeley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, William and Walter “Skeet” Davenport; and four sisters, Elizabeth and Sarah Davenport and twins, Carlene Miller and Arlene Rich.
