LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Marie L. Marquis was celebrated Thursday by the Monsignor Marc Caron at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish. At the beginning of Mass, Jessica Lessard, Isaac Potvin, Linda Hobart and Carol Swearingen draped Marie’s casket with a white burial pall signifying Marie’s rebirth into a new spiritual life with God. The first reading was read by Marie’s granddaughter, Melissa Hartford. The prayer of the faithful was recited by Jennifer Lessard. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Marie’s great-granddaughters, Abbey Potvin and Alana Hartford. At the conclusion of Mass, Marie’s granddaughter, Lori Potvin shared words of remembrance about her “Memere.” Bearers were Todd Hartford, Dee Hobart, Jeff Marquis, John Potvin, Reginald Marquis and Mark Swearingen. Following a funeral procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, Monsignor Caron recited committal prayers after which all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant. Arrangements by Pinette and Lynch Funeral Home.
