LIVERMORE FALLS — Police are investigating the theft of a homemade utility trailer left on Park Street with a flat tire Tuesday.

The owner told police he was towing the 4- by 8-foot red metal homemade utility trailer when the tire blew. He was about a quarter mile from Diamond Road.

He pulled over and disconnected the trailer, parking it well off the southbound shoulder, police said. He also alerted police that he had left it there.

When he sent a mechanic to retrieve and repair the trailer Wednesday morning, it was gone.

The value of the trailer is estimated at about $400, Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said. The sides of the trailer are about 12 inches high and made of steel.

Police are asking for help from the public. If anyone saw the trailer being taken or someone changing the tire on it during that time frame, they are asked to call 897-3424 with any information.
