TURNER — Donald P. Chamberlain Sr., 82, a longtime resident of Turner, died unexpectedly, Friday, Jan. 13, at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1929, the son of Donald E. and Ruth (Bryant) Chamberlain. Donald attended school in Hartford and East Livermore.

He married Marilyn Rose Smith in 1951. She passed away in 1977. On April 7, 1978, he married his wife of 33 years, Lois Henry.

He worked as a woodsman throughout his lifetime, and was a jack-of-all trades who was constantly “tinkering” on something. Donald was a collector of many of life’s treasures and loved working with wood, making anything from bird houses to wooden woodpeckers. Don spent countless hours sawing logs and splitting wood with his best friend and son-in-law, John. Donald was known for being good natured and a people person; he absolutely loved people, and could always find something to talk about whether he had known them for years or had just met. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Chamberlain of Turner; daughters, Donna Warren and her husband, Leon, of Buckfield, and Diane Clairmont and her husband, John, of Turner; his son, Donald Chamberlain Jr. and his wife, Waltroud, of Germany; stepchildren, Charles McKay Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Eddington, George McKay of Boston, and Sally Long and her husband, David, of Arizona; grandchildren, Candida Madore and her husband, Daryl, Leon Robert Warren, Mykayla Warren and companion, Michael Richmond, Rosemond, Ashley, Dakota, Peyton and Abigail Warren, Melinda Fortin and her husband, Timothy, Frederick Kelsey, Donald Chamberlain III and his wife, Kasey, Kevin and Gina Chamberlain, Charles III and Jeffrey McKay, Elizabeth, Thomas, Aaron, and Robert McKay, and Heidi and Sarah Long; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Abbott and husband, Richard, Irving Chamberlain, Anna Mitchell and Mary White; sister-in-law, Ellen Chamberlain; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn Rose Smith; his infant daughter, Ellen Marie Chamberlain; his sister, Marguerite Varney; and his brother, Merrill Chamberlain.
