SOUTH PARIS — The 35th Annual Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce dinner celebrating the business community and chamber award winners will be held Feb. 4 at the Lepage Center for the Arts located on the Hebron Academy campus.
John Williams, executive director of the chamber, named William Ryan Jr. and Dick Berggren as keynote speakers for the evening. Ryan is the owner of Oxford Plains Speedway, the Oxford Plains Snow Tubing Park, Oxford Plains Fun Park, the Outdoor Adventure Center in Bethel, as well as chairman of the Maine Red Claws basketball team. Berggren is a former race car driver turned Hall of Fame journalist. He is the founder and chief editor of Speedway Illustrated, the top motorsports magazine in the country, and he is Fox Television’s lead broadcaster covering the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Business and community leaders being honored during this year’s annual dinner are New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. for Business of the Year; the board of Right Start for Community Service; Ted Moccia, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Principal for Employee of the Year; and Crazy Horse Racing Parts & Engines for the Rising Star Award.
The dinner begins with a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and includes hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and musical entertainment by Denny Breau, a local and legendary guitarist and soloist. A buffet dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. After dinner, Ryan and Berggren will take the stage, followed by the business and community award presentations.
The dinner is open to the public; tickets are $40 per person. Online payments can also be accepted on the chamber’s website. Williams noted that the event sells out early and recommended purchasing tickets early.
