Cuban dance music
Primo Cubano, which plays traditional Cuban dance music and sings Spanish lyrics in rhythmic call-and-response style (making it easy to join in), will perform Saturday, Feb. 11, at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center. Band members play tres, upright bass and guitar along with congas, bongos, maracas, guiro and claves. Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. performance, which includes dancing on the center’s newly finished floor, are $15/$6 for students to age 22. Call 582-7144 or email info@johnsonhall.org. Next up in the “Sounds Good! Music Live” series at Johnson Hall, 280 Water St., Gardiner, will be Lynn Deeves with a full band, Robby Coffin, Scott Elliot and Alfred Lund, on March 10. Primo Cubano will also perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Portland’s One Longfellow Square. Tickets: $8 advance/$10 at the door.
