LEWISTON — Dr. Reg Mailhot of the Family Eye Health and Contact Lens Center, 220 Sabattus St., was one of the first optometrists in the nation to become board certified by the American Board of Optometry. He passed the ABO’s Board of Certification examination administered in November and December 2011.
To attain this honor, Mailhot completed a series of rigorous post graduate activities. He passed a challenging computer-based examination on issues spanning the scope of optometry, earning him the title of Diplomate, American Board of Optometry.
Mailhot has enrolled in the ABO’s Maintenance of Certification program. The 10-year process is designed to allow the doctor of optometry to demonstrate that he is dedicated to keeping current in the field of optometry and delivering quality patient care.
