Ciaran and Danielle
Baker
AUBURN — Danielle Joan Sprague and Ciaran John Baker were married at 4 p.m. on July 9 at Martindale Country Club in Auburn. Officiating at the ceremony was Deacon Marguerite Stapleton.
The bride is the daughter of John Sprague and Helene Bernier and the granddaughter of Leo and Juliette Bernier, all of Lewiston. The bridegroom is the son of Patrick and Grainne Baker of Marystown, Newfoundland, Canada.
The matron of honor was April Caron, a long-time friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Leslie LaFrance, sister-in-law of the bride, and Shana Hull, college friend of the bride. Flower girls were Hannah and Sarah Talon, daughters of the friend of the bride.
Best man was Declan Baker, brother of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Brian LaFrance, brother of the bride, Chris Hull, friend of the bridegroom, and Benjamin Bernier, cousin of the bride. Alexander Bernier, another cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
The wedding ceremony was held on the sun-drenched grounds of Martindale Country Club, accompanied by the music of accomplished bagpiper, Jeff Herbster of Brunswick. Following tradition of the bridegroom’s Irish heritage, the men wore ceremonial kilts and the songs “Lochaber No More” and “Mist Covered Mountains” were piped during the service.
The bride, in an ivory colored silk organza gown, was escorted down the aisle and given away by her father. Her dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline and rouched bodice, complemented by a fingertip-length veil adorned with small beading. She also wore her grandmother’s pearl necklace (worn on her wedding day in 1948) and carried a bouquet of pink and white hydrangea with coordinating white garden and tea roses.
The reception was held immediately after the ceremony at the Martindale clubhouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker are both registered nurses employed at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She worked in the Family Birthing Unit and he is employed in the Emergency Department. They currently reside in Lewiston.
